Al-Afham: Journal of Islamic Studies (AJIS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually by LPPM Sekolah Tinggi Islam Kendal. The journal contributes to the advancement of Islamic studies by bridging classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary academic approaches, emphasizing their significance in diverse cultural, intellectual, and social contexts. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, it engages with theology, philosophy, history, anthropology, sociology, education, religious studies, and comparative humanities. Its areas of focus include Qur’anic and Hadith studies, Islamic thought, jurisprudence, ethics, spirituality, the role of Islam in shaping society, as well as comparative and cross-cultural perspectives.

The journal highlights Islam as a dynamic intellectual and living tradition, continually reinterpreted across time and place. It particularly welcomes studies that explore the interaction between classical Islamic heritage and contemporary challenges, the role of Islamic texts and traditions in everyday practices and identity formation, and empirical or comparative research situated within the broader humanities and social sciences. Addressed to scholars, researchers, and graduate students in Islamic studies and related fields, AJIS fosters international scholarly exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue through its diverse range of publications. Indexed in Google Scholar, Garuda, Dimensions, Moraref, and Crossref, the journal warmly invites scholars to submit original research and contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies.
