Plagiarism

As part of its commitment to preventing plagiarism and maintaining academic integrity, authors are required to check their manuscripts using Turnitin before submission. The similarity check is intended to identify similarities between the submitted manuscript and previously published works. A second similarity check will be conducted by the editors of the Al-Afham: Journal of Islamic Studies during the editorial process.

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published and are not currently under review by another journal or publication. Any material directly quoted from other sources must be clearly distinguished from the author’s original text by using appropriate quotation marks or block quotations and providing accurate citations to the original source. Authors are encouraged to paraphrase ideas from other sources rather than rely extensively on direct quotations.

Manuscripts submitted to the Al-Afham: Journal of Islamic Studies must have a similarity score below 20%. The similarity score is used as an initial screening indicator and does not, by itself, determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors may conduct further assessment of the sources and context of identified similarities when necessary.
