The review process in Halaqah: Journal of Multidisciplinary Islamic Studies is conducted using a double-blind review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed. Disclosure of identities may only occur with the mutual consent of both parties. Authors are required to suggest 2–4 potential reviewers; however, the editorial management reserves the right to accept or decline these suggestions. Reviewers may also be invited from journals published by reputable publishers and must be affiliated with institutions different from those of the authors. The list of reviewers is updated in each issue.
Submitted manuscripts will first undergo an initial screening by the editor. If the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope and meets the required formatting standards, it will be sent to two reviewers for peer review. After the review process is completed, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. This process typically takes up to four weeks for each manuscript.
If the editor determines that revisions are required prior to peer review, the manuscript will be returned to the author for improvement within a specified timeframe. Likewise, if reviewers recommend revisions, the manuscript will be sent back to the author for revision and resubmission. If the editor decides to reject the manuscript, the rejected submission may not be resubmitted to this journal.
